The most asked question is how can I become
a member of the Institute?
Answer:
You would please obtain the application form
with the sum of N 3,000.00 (Three Thousand
Naira Only) paid to the Institute’s Bank or
with a Bank draft made payable to the Institute.
Completed forms are to be returned with photocopies
of credentials and a recent coloured passport
- sized photograph.
- What
grade am I likely to be enrolled into?
Answer:
The grade depends on the combination of your
academic qualifications and exposure to HR
functions. However, it has been decided that
anyone wishing to become a member should write
qualifying professional examinations. This
takes effect from May 2004.
- Do
you have an office/branch outside Lagos?
Answer: Yes.

- I
live in … and I cannot come to pay in Lagos,
where can I pay my fees please?
Answer:
You can pay to the branch of Intercontinental
Bank Limited in your area. Pay into CIPM Account
number 0004-001-000005078. you will then send a copy
of the teller to the National Secretariat
and receive a receipt for the payment.
- How
many levels does the CIPM exams have?
Answer:
Presently, there are now eight levels. Persons
who have university degrees or a higher diploma
will be given some exemptions and should be
able to write only three levels of the examinations.
- How
can I receive exemptions from the examinations?
Answer:
i. Foundation I is the starting point for
holders of WAEC/NECO/GCE Ordinary level and
Ordinary National Diploma result. They must
possess results with 5 credits including credits
in English and Mathematics. They shall write
all the levels of the examinations.
ii. a. B.A/B Sc/HND holders, with a minimum
of Pass in the Social Sciences, Humanities
and Management courses would begin from Intermediate
I.
b. B.A/B Sc/HND holders, with a minimum of
two years experience), from other disciplines
would begin from Intermediate I.
iii. B.A/B.Sc/HND holders in the areas mentioned
in (ii) above with minimum of 2nd Class lower
or lower Credit prior to the date of admission
shall begin from
Intermediate II.
iv. Holders of higher degrees e.g. M.A/M.Sc/MBA/M.Phil/Ph.D
in relevant disciplines shall begin from PE
I.
v. Candidates who hold the certificate of
other recognized Institute, with a degree/HND
and possess the requisite five credits at
Ordinary level shall begin from PE I upon
submission of the student’s transcript from
such institute.
vi. Holders of higher degrees in irrelevant
disciplines shall begin from Intermediate
II.
- What
do I gain in attending MCPE?
Answer:
First, you will have met the standard of the
Institute that at least once a year you have
been exposed to developments in some core
HR functions. For every MCPE you attend you
have a score of 5 credit points which would
be considered for your upgrading, you are
expected to have a maximum point of 20 credit
points. It is another opportunity for you
to network with colleagues in different sectors
of the economy.
