For the role which the Institute is expected to play among Human Resource practitioners, the Nigerian government and the manpower pool of the country, research is a veritable tool.
It enables the CIPMN which has over 7,000 members drawn from both the public and private sectors to focus on raging, emerging and current issues in the profession. For example, the Institute in its relationship with its varied membership spread across the small to the large and more sophisticated organization to the multinationals, is aware of a number of dimensions to the changing HR function over the recent years.
Research assists HR practitioners’ desire for strategic influence by providing them with useful information with which to make judgments and have informed industrial and other opinion.
CIPMN research seeks to look at:
Graduating students from Nigerian universities and their capability levels; outsourcing; employers of choice in Nigeria; how HR professionals develop their careers; how HR functions develop their staff in the short and longer term to ensure they can meet customer requirements and their own ambition; whether HR is really driving change or people are just writing about it.
Another big research issue is Leadership. What makes a successful HR leader? And how is HR developing the line for leadership roles?
For its research efforts, CIPMN works with the academia and with companies in the public and private sectors of the economy. The reports from the researches are printed and can be obtained from CIPM House.
